VOLUNTARY AGENCIES

Introduction :

The Deputy Director (Voluntary Agencies) working under the Provincial Coordinator, Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh this office entrusted with the responsibility of Registration and Supervision of the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961. 

The Provincial Coordinator, Social Welfare, at the Provincial level while the District Officers at the District level have been declared as the Registration Authority by the Government under provisions of the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 19621. So far 6904 Voluntary Agencies have been Registered by the Provincial Coordinator, Social Welfare (Head Quarter) Sindh Secretariat Block No. 79, Karachi and District Officers of 23 Districts of Sindh. 

Field of Services: The Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies render of their Welfare Services in one or more of the following fields: 

1.                  Child Welfare.

2.                  Youth Welfare.

3.                  Women Welfare.

4.                  Welfare of Physically and Mentally Retarded Children.

5.                  Family Planning.

6.                  Recreational Programmes intended to keep peoples away from Anti-Social Activities.

7.                  Social Education, that is Education of Adults aimed at developing sense of Civic responsibility.

8.                  Welfare and Rehabilitation of Released Prisoners.

9.                  Welfare of Juvenile Delinquents.

10.              Welfare of Socially Handicapped.

11.              Welfare of Beggars and Destitute.

12.              Welfare and Rehabilitation of Patients.

13.              Welfare of the aged peoples.

14.              Training in Social Work.

15.      Coordination of Social Welfare Agencies.

MONITORING/SUPERVISION OF VOLUNTARY SOCIAL WELFARE AGENCIES. 

After the implementation of Devaluation Plan (2000-2001) the Registered Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies are being supervised by the District Officer (Social Welfare) Community Development Department, of the concerned District with the help of field staff. However in case of complaint B-Mal---against any Voluntary Agency, the District Officer have the matter to the Provincial Coordinator for necessary action according to the Law Rules, 1962 laid down in the Ordinance, 1961.
