In pursuance of the (employment & Rehabilitation ), Ordinance,1981 for Disabled
Persons, Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, Government of Pakistan, forthwith
constituted ( National Council for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons ) to
facilitate the employment, rehabilitation and welfare of disabled
persons and for matters connected therewith.
And as of which the Government of sindh immediately constituted Provincial
Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (PCRDP) headed by the Secretary to
Government of Sindh, Social Welfare Department as its Chairman whereas the
Provincial Coordinator Social Welfare acts as Secretary of the Council, with the
objectives as:
i) Execute the policy made be the National
Council of the employment, rehabilitation and welfare of
disabled persons.
ii) Undertake appropriate projects for these
purposes.
iii) Issue directions to the Employment Exchange
and other bodies for the implementation of the projects:
and
iv) from time to time take stock of the extent
of the functional disabilities of disabled persons.
The said provincial council is putting emphasis upon to bring means of substance
i.e. permanent rehabilitation in terms of employment, financial assistance so as
to strengthen the potentials of the individuals and finally medical assessment
so as to ascertain the working capacity and then a job accordingly.
In the Directorate of Social Welfare Cell is being carried out the working
related to the PCRDP through employment & rehabilitation cell for disable
persons” Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh. This cell working under
supervision of the Deputy Director, four Assistant Directors, have been posted
presently in this cell, in Order to monitor the privileges provided under this
ordinance and recruitment of disabled persons under 2% Quota in Government,
Private and Public Sectors. |
