COMPLAINT CELL TO RESOLVE GRIEVANCES OF MASSES WITHOUT DELAY -  SHAZIA MARRI
 
Karachi, October 13: Sindh Minister for Information Ms. Shazia Marri todayattended the complaint cell established at Chief Minister’s House andissued on the spot orders on complaints received through telephone, Faxand e-mail from cross section of population.
It is pertinent to mention here that this cell has been established underthe special directives of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah.Officers of public utility organizations including  KESC, KW&SB, SSCG,PTCL and Police will be present in the cell.
Provincial Minister Information Ms Shazia Marri received complaints fromvarious parts of the province which were related to police, education,health and other departments. Ms. Marri while talking to the media men on the occasion said that themain purpose of establishment of this cell was to provide relief tomasses without any delay and resolve their problems, as son as possible.
She further informed that this cell will work in two shifts and all theProvincial Ministers will sit in the cell and issue orders for redressalof public grievances.

SPEAKER SINDH ASSEMBLY FELICITATES THE NATION ON PRESIDENT’S SUCCESSFUL VISIT OF US

Karachi, September 27: Speaker Sindh Assembly Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while felicitating whole nation on the successful visit of President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to United States of America said that the country will develop in leaps and bounds under the aegis of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari.
Mr. Nisar Khuhro further said that the current visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to US has improved the image of Pakistan at the international level and the way, in which, President presented the case of Pakistan before international community is the vivid and glaring example of his charismatic leadership.
Mr. Nisar Khuhro said that Pakistan is passing through very critical economic crisis, besides Pakistan is facing the dreadful threat of terrorism at the internal level, whereas the terrorism is not only the matter of concern for Pakistan but it has been the problem for the whole world as well.
Mr. Nisar Khuhro further said that it is the great success of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari that he won the support of international
community including US over the issue of terrorism. Mr. Khuhro appreciating the efforts taken by President to strengthen diplomatic relations with neighboring countries said that Pakistan has always paid great attention towards improving relations with neighboring states including India.

MINISTER IT VISITED CALL CENTER TRAINING INSTITUTE UNDER BBSYDP.

KARACHI , SEPTEMBER 25:Minister Information Technology Department , Government of Sindh , Mr. Mohammad Raza Haroon visited Call Center Training Institutes , which are pre-qualified under Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program in order to ensure that the Upcoming training will be provided in prescribed standard, so that the jobless youths will become eligible for employment in local and International Call Center Industry.

During the visit Minister IT discussed the Call Center Training process with the trainers  and the Institute has also shown  the live  calls sessions being  entertained by call center agents with the clients.

Addl. Secretary/ Project Director BBSYD , Mr. Niaz Ahmed Laghari was also present during the visit.

Minister IT presided a meeting of E-Police steering committee held on 5-9-08

Meeting of steering committee of e-Police project was held on 5th September 2008 at Information Technology Department Government of Sindh. The meeting was chaired by Honorable Minister IT , Mr. Muhammad Raza Haroon .Project progress was reviewed in detail and the approval of establishment of centralized call centre of Madadgar 15 and the automation of driving License was accorded.Project Director was  directed to start  implementation on the above approved systems  so that the services can be started for the citizens.

Karachi, September 04: Sindh Revenue Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Minister for Population Welfare Jam Mahtab Dahar have condoled the sad demise of former Principal of Sindh Law College Hyderabad Professor Ahmed Muhammad Kazi who passed away in Hyderabad the other day after protracted illness. In a condolence message to the bereaved family members, the Ministers have lauded the great contribution of late Principal for not only enhancing the prestige of college but his contribution in other fields will too be remembered for long time, they added. RAMZAN TIMINGS FOR SINDH GOVERNMENT OFFICES

Karachi, September 01: In view of Holy month of Ramzan, the office timings of Sindh Government offices working on 6-days week basis will be from Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.; while on Friday it will be from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

WORK ON THAR COAL PROJECT BE UNDERTAKEN ON WAR FOOTING – DR. KHATUMAL

Karachi August 29: The Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Mines and Mineral Dr. Katumal Jeewan has said that in view of Electricity crisis being faced, he has directed officials to work on Thar Coal Project on War footing basis and soon positive result will be before us.
This he said while talking with media after inaugurating Sindh Coal Authority Library here today, on this occasion Provincial Minister for Irrigation and Power Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Minister Cooperation Jalil Memon, Advisor to Chief Minister for Anti-Corruption Gul Muhammad Laat, MPA’s Najamuddin Abro; Dr. Sikandar Shoro, Sharjeel Memon and officers/officials of department were present.
The Advisor for Mines said that due to wrong policies of the previous government the prestige of country suffered but now our PPP government will ensure that the project is carried forward and people are benefited with. He also said that it was also unfortunate that WAPDA and Oil companies did put hurdles and obstacles in Thar Coal Project, but with positive approach our government will ensure that the work on project starts at earliest. Referring to Library Dr. Khattumal said that library will provide every information/material to local and Foreign Investor and that it will be connected with Inter Net system as well so that people around globe can avail the facility of literature on Thar Coal. BAN EXTENDED

Karachi, August 28,2008: The Home Department, Government of Sindh has extendedfor further 30 days with effect from August 24, 2008 under Section 144 Cr.PC, the ban imposed earlier on heavy vehicles carrying water andconstruction material on the roads of Karachi city during peak hours i.e.in Morning from 07.30 a.m. to 09.30 a.m., and in evening from 06.00 p.m.to 08.00 p.m. daily. RATES OF FRESH MILK NOTIFIED
  Karachi, August 27,2008:  In pursuance of the orders of the Chief SecretarySindh and in compliance of the orders of the Honourable High Court Sindhin C.P.No. D-225/2007 and in the light of the advice of the Advocate General Sindh communicated vide No.AG-2654 of 2008 dated 13.8.2008 andafter affording ample opportunities of hearing and explanation to thepetitioners, producers, whole sellers and concerned public functionariesand keeping in view the essential item, classification and due applicationof mind, Secretary to Government of Sindh Livestock and FisheriesDepartment has notified following prices of fresh milk in the limits ofthe Karachi City district with immediate effect.
(i) Production / Farm Rs. 34/- per litre
(ii) Whole Sale Price Rs. 35/- Per litre
(iii) Retail Rs. 37/- per litre
All the relevant authorities as mentioned under the Price Control andPrevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act, 1977 and the Sindh EssentialCommodities Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act,2005 are required to enforce these rates at all three levels in publicinterest and to ensure implementation of Government notification.HANDOUT NO. 847/2008(AAS)
 

U.S. CONSUL GENERAL HOLDS MEETING WITH MINISTER EXCISE & TAXATION SINDH

Karachi, August 22: Consul General of the United States of America at Karachi Ms. Kay Anske accompanied by Tim O. Hall, Political / Economic Officer held a meeting with Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Sindh, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Chawla in his office here today.
On this occasion matters of mutual interest were discussed in detail. The Minister informed the Consul General that Provincial Excise & Taxation Department is one of the major contributors in the provincial exchequer with a share of more than 30% in provincial revenue receipts.
He further said that besides the Department is also entrusted with the task of controlling the menace of narcotics in the province of Sindh. For this purpose five Directorates alongwith intelligence setup have been established under the supervision of Director General, Excise & Taxation Sindh. He was also informed that during the past five years remarkable performance has been shown towards detection of narcotics. He said that the total quantity of 229.926 Kg. Heroin, 54327.793 Kg. of Hashish and 130.943 Kg. of Opium have been seized during the last five years. Moreover, though the department is facing a number of constraints and problems due to lack of operational vehicles, equipments and proper training, which a number of steps have been taken by the department to overcome these problems and the performance is likely to be further improved, he added.
The U.S. Consul General appreciated the role and services of Excise & Taxation Department Sindh and promised to extend all possible cooperation in this regard. Karachi, August 19: Sindh Revenue Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah hasexhorted religious school students that after completing their studiesthey should not only work for the good will of man kind, but for theprogress and prosperity of country and of Sindh province.
This he said while addressing as a chief guest the students of Dar-ul-Uloom Mujadada-ul-Naeemi at certificate distribution ceremony function held here today in Jamia Masjid Muhammadi Malir.
Syed Murad Ali Shah said that students are our assessts and great responsibilities lies on their shoulder, your good behaviour and actionswill prove your worth in society. He congratulated them and the Management of Dar-ul-Uloom and assured them that their problem of opening of Government dispensary will be taken up with Secretary Helath and soon you will have dispensary in the area. He also said that he was happy to know that the institution is imparting education to 475 students.
Later he distributed certificates amongst 45 students of Dar-ul-Uloom who passed various exams amongst them one was from Holland, and one from Iran as well.
Earlier, Mufti Allama Mohammad Jan Naeemi in his welcome address lauded the contribution of Former Chief Minister Sindh Late Syed Abdullah Shah and recalled his ties with the institution, and said that the institution has planned the 3rd Ya Rasoolullah Conference to be held in the month of October 2008 at Sehwan Sharif. He further said that the students of Dar-ul-Uloom after getting their degree work for the spread the knowledge of Islam not only in Education institutions of Sindh, and in Pakistan, but in South Africa and Holland as well. MINISTER INFORMATION REQUESTS RS.2 LAC GRANT FOR MURDERED JOURNALIST’S FAMILY

Karachi. August 17: Sindh Minister for Information, Ms. Shazia Marri has requested Chief Minister Sindh for release of Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lac) grant to the family of murdered journalist of Dadu Muhammad Azeem Leghari.
In a summery submitted to Chief Minister Sindh, the Provincial Information Minister has said that the minor son of Azeem Leghari has liver disease and his whole family is very poor. Ms. Marri has also written a letter to Provincial Home Minister Mr. Zulfiqar Mirza and requested him to order concerned officers to complete the investigations of the case as soon as possible and arrest the killers of Azeem Leghari She has assured the journalist community of Dadu that the present democratic government would ensure freedom of press at all costs and the culprits involved in the killing of Azeem Leghari would be awarded exemplary punishment. She said no one would be allowed to target journalists and such persons would be brought to justice.

NOTIFIED GOTHS TO BE PROTECTED THROUGH BOUNDARY WALLS  -  AGHA SIERAAJ

Karachi, July 28, 2008: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Agha Sieraaj KhanDurrani has directed Malir Development Authority (MDA) to expedite the process of erection of boundary walls around every notified goth, in its jurisdiction so as to protect them from land mafia and encroachers.         This he said while presiding over meeting in the office of Malir Development Authority here today. Nazim Gadap Town Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Baloch was also present on the occasion.

        Provincial Minister said that Government was attaching top priority on protecting all notified Goths around Karachi and providing all basic amenities to their inhabitants was also its priority.  Mr. Durrani said that many complaints are being received of overnight
surfacing of fake Goths, which are only aimed at encroaching precious Government land. The mafia involved in this act not only depriving
Government of valuable revenues but also creating hardships for the locals, which could not be allowed, he observed.        He said that it was very unfortunate that despite lapse of more than half a century, the Goths around Karachi were deprived of basic amenities which has increased the difficulties of their inhabitants, manifold. All the notified Goths would now be protected through boundary walls and they
would be provided all basic amenities of life, he added.        He appreciated the anti-encroachment drive being launched by MDA on his
directives and observed that it should be ensured that each and every government land is vacated from land grabbers and mafia involved in this heinous act.
Mr. Durrani warned land grabbers to desist from encroaching government land and demolish all illegal structure, otherwise Government would take stern action against them. On pointation from Town Nazim Gadap, Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Baloch,Provincial Minister directed Director General MDA to provide all basic facilities to Lal Bux Goth, including water and sewerage.   Director General MDA Mr. Amir Zada Kohati informed the Minister about the ongoing schemes and future plans of the Authority.    Earlier, Minister Local Government visited various residential sectors of MDA and inspected encroachments razed by the Authority in recent days.HANDOUT NO. 708/2008 (MSK)

Physical (Inputs) Seed; Feed; Fertilizers; Water; Pesticides/Wedicides and Mechanization; Institutional/Policy: Research; Extension; Social Mobilization; Credit; Pricing and Marketing system: Review of existing Measures of increasing Agriculture Productivity; To suggest measures for increasing agricultural productivity/production in short term (1-2 years); Medium Term (up to 5 years) and Long Terms.
            Provincial Sub-Committee will submit its report within 60 days of receipt of minutes of the meeting of Task Force while the Committee will submit report within 15 days.

Karachi, July 15:The Government of Sindh has banned the two highly controversial books titled “The Prophesied End Time” and “2008 God’s Final Witness” written by Ronald Weinland under section 99-A, Cr. P.C. 1998. the book contain material which may offend the sentiments of Muslims, Jews and Christian and is likely to create resentment among different religious groups leading to law & order problem in the country
The Government has ordered to confiscated all its copies wherever found in the open market with immediate effect and to take necessary legal action against the writer, publisher, distributors, sellers and others concerned, under the relevant law.

AGHA TAIMUR INCHARGE FOOD MINISTER HELD A MEETING WITH PAKISTAN FLOUR MILLS ASSOCIATION

Karachi, July 10: A follow up meeting with the representatives of Pakistan Flour Mills Association (Sindh Chapter) was held under the chair of the Incharge Minister Food Sindh Agha Taimur Khan to discuss the status of implementation of the decisions taken in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Sindh July 04, 2008 on the price of Atta with special reference to the reduction in the rate of Atta down to Rs.22/- (ex-mill) fixed by the Government and opening of outlets, each at the premises of respective Flour Mills and another in the vicinity of it.
The meeting further observed that the Association has so far failed to implement the above said decisions.
After due deliberations, the following decisions were taken including that the ex-Mill price of Atta shall immediately be brought down to RS. 25/- per kg. instead of Rs.29/- per kg, right from today (i.e. 10-7-2008); that the Flour Mill owners shall not only ensure that the outlet to sell Atta at ex-mill pries at premises of mill is established, but also open 22 or even more outlets in the different locations in the City from where common consumer can buy Atta at the ex-mill price of Rs.25/- per kg. this shall be done latest by Monday, for which list will be provided by Food Department in consultation with City District Government, Karachi; that is no case, the price of ex-mill Atta shall go upwards, but it shall be ensured that it is brought down to Rs.22/- per Kg (ex-mil) at decided in the meeting with the Chief Minister at earliest possible; that the decision of General Body of Flour Mill Association to store 3000 wheat bags instead of 15000 bags, as decided in the meeting of the Chief Minister, was subscribed to and it shall be ensured that no Mill has storage of more that 3000 bags and that the Flour Mills Chakkies Owners, transporting wheat from interior of Sindh to Karachi shall ensure that the  copy of Food Grain licence of Flour Mill/Chakki and Builty is available with the Driver of the vehicle to testify that he wheat is actually being transported to and for Mill and Chakki concerned.
On the occasion the Association was made explicitly clear that any deviation from the above decisions shall involve serious action for which they themselves shall be responsible

This he stated while talking with Doctors working in various RHA Centresof Karachi who met him along with District Population Welfare officers inthe Committee Room here today.Jam Mehtab said that he intends to streamline the functioning of theDepartment for which better liaison, coordination amongst officials ismust, the object being qualitative improvement, he added. He further saidthat any centre whose performance is good will be given appreciationaward.
Regarding responsibilities and duties of officials the Minister directedDistrict Population Welfare officers to undertake visits of FamilyWelfare Centres and of RHA regularly and send him reports of their performance every month. He further directed them to ensure thatMotivation Process is geared up, besides male mobilizer performance whichis not upto mark be looked into and improved upon. MAJOR PENALTY IMPOSES ON ADDITIONAL & SESSION JUDGE

Karachi, July 01: The Chief Justice /Authority; in exercise of powers under clause (a) of Sub-Rule (4) of Rule 5 of the Sindh Civil Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 has decided to impose a major penalty on Ms. Shamim Akhtar Sadozai Additional District & Session Judge, Karachi South with immediate effect of “reduction of rank (i.e. from the post of Additional District & Sessions Judge to the post of Senior Civil Judge) for a period of three (3) years, from the date of taking over the charge of lower post”. MINISTER LOCAL GOVERNMENT DIRECTS MDA TO ERECT BOUNDARY WALLS AROUND NOTIFIED VILLAGES .

Karachi, July 01: Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Khan Durrani has directed Malir Development Authority (MDA) to erect boundary walls around all notified villages in its jurisdiction so as to protect the same from land mafia This he ordered during the visit of Malir Development Authority here today. Town Nazim Ghadap Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Baloch and Director General MDA Mr. Amir Zada Kohati were also present on the occasion. Provincial Minister said that in many areas land mafia is encroaching government land by using the name of a fake village. Their activities not only creating confusion and unrest amongst villagers but also depriving government of valuable revenue, he observed.
Mr. Durrani also directed the MDA to plan its development projects in consultation with Town Nazim Gadap and people of the area. No project should be started without proper feed back and approval of the locals, he further directed.
He assured that all the notified goths around Karachi would be protected and no one would be allowed to demolish or change their status. Present democratic Government would also provide all basic amenities of life to them. Provincial Minister asked M.D.A. to accelerate pace of all development projects and ensure their timely completion without compromising on quality of work. All contractors should also be directed to strictly maintain highest possible standard in completion of development projects, he added.
Mr. Durrani said that roads play an important part in speedy development of any area and as such M.D.A. should also concentrate on construction of quality roads connecting various residential sectors of the Authority. Town Nazim Gadap Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Baloch stressed the need of inclusion of community in various development projects, especially in road sector. He also gave various suggestions regarding development projects of MDA. Director General MDA Mr. Amir Zada Kohati informed the Minister about the future plans of the Authority, in detail.
