FUNCTIONS
1) Development of Mineral Resource
including Granite
2) Grant of Licenses and Leases
3) Regulating & Monitoring Mining Operations &
Activities in the Mineral
Sector including Collection of Royalty thereof.
4) Negotiations of Mineral Agreement &
Consultation with the Federal
5) Government if and
when considered necessary by the Mineral
Investment
Facilitation Authority (MIFA).
6) Mineral Exploration for Development
of Mineral Resources.
7) Coalfired Power Plants.
8) Sindh Coal Authority
Accelerate the pace of activities relating to coal
development and shall be specifically responsible
for planning, promoting,
organizing, undertaking
appropriate projects in this behalf and
implementing
programmes for exploration,
development, exploitation, mining, processing
and
utilization of coal.
9) Promote joint ventures specially
with foreign investors for development of
coal
resources of the province.
10) Take such steps as may be necessary
or conducive to the attainment of
its objects.
11) Serve as secretariat of MIFA.
