Function of the
Provincial Population Welfare Department
To act as
Secretariat of PWDS, as administrative department
of Government of Sindh.
To maintain Provincial Population Profile.
To be responsible for all operational planning,
implementation, monitoring and coordination.
To assist the provincial & federal government in
the formulation of overall program policy, goals,
targets and strategic for the program.
To be responsible for operational planning and to
ensure
implementations of
program within the framework of the strategy and
goals assigned to the province.
To ensure widespread availability of quality
services to the clients with adequate follow up
arrangements.
To participate and assist the federal and
provincial government in regular monitoring of the
implantation and periodical evaluation of the
program in the province.
To ensure observance of financial discipline,
maintenance of proper records and rendering of
accounts to provincial and federal governments for
all expenditure made for the program activities in
the province.
To maintain Liaison with provincial DOH, PLDs
including SESSIs for delivery of family planning
services through their outlets.
To design and develop plan of action and
coordinate for involvement of other nation
building departments and maintain linkages with
SMC, TGIs and NGOs.
To ensure uninterrupted supply of contraceptives
in the province.
To compile statistical reports on program
performance of the province and provide periodical
reports to the federal government / provincial
governments.
To design and implement information, education and
communication activities assigned to the province.
To coordinate in the implementation of training
program through Population Welfare Training
Institute (PWTI) and Regional Training Institute (RTIs)
for program and non-program functionaries.
To undertake regular reviews of the program
implementation.
Any other assignment (s) entrusted by the higher
hierarchy of the program.
In order to carry
out the aforesaid functions, the provincial
headquarter will have a viable infrastructure
headed by the Secretary. He/ She will be supported
by one Additional Secretary and 3 Directors to
carry out the specific assigned functions in the
following 4 Directorates
