SINDHI LANGUAGE AUTHORITY
The Sindhi Language Authority was established in 1990-91. Its head office is
at Hyderabad. It was established with seed money of Rs.5.000 million and an
annual grant-in-aid of Rs.1.500 million. Its primary functions are:-
To coordinate and ensure correct use of the Sindhi Language in Provincial and
local bodies record, educational text books etc.
To facilitate due adoption of the language for competitive exams and in the
media. To take necessary steps for promotion and enrichment of the Language
and for achieving better understanding, harmonious linguistic development,
national cohesion and integration between other Pakistan’s Language and the
National Language. The Sindhi Language Authority has a revised development
scheme of Rs.22.793 Million. The project envisages a campus and a printing
press at Hyderabad. It has 88 books to its credit. In collaboration with
Department of Culture, it has produced a Lingua phone series for Sindhi
Language. This will facilitate learning of Sindhi Language by indirect
method on a cassettes which is adopted all over the world.
“The Encyclopedia Sindhiana” and “Sindhi English Dictionary” are in
progress.
