Rice: Kanwal, Shahkar
Cotton: Hari Dost
- To enhance the export
potential of fruits and to improve the quality
of fruits certified nurseries have been
developed at Horticulture Research Institute, Mirpurkhas.
- 5000 plants of Mango, 1960 of
Chiku, 2000 of Jaman, 2000 of Guave
and 3775 of
Jujube have been produced and provided to
farmers on nominal charges.
- For production of
contamination free Cotton, amendment has been
made in Cotton Control Ordinance.
- Cotton campaign has been
launched to produce clean cotton.
- During 2005-06 against target
of 30,000 bales 10,000 contamination
free bales
have been produced so far.
- Rs.50 per maund is to be paid
to growers on production of
contamination free
cotton.
- Rs.10.50 million each by
Federal and Provincial Government is kept for
the purpose of payment to growers.

- 150For development of land,
bulldozers have been provided to
growers on
subsidized rates.
- During last two years 41
bulldozers have been refurbished and are in
operation.
- During last three years,
18010 hectares (44539 acres) land was
developed
through bulldozers.
- During 2006-07 sixty more
bulldozers will be repaired / refurbished.
- Laser land leveling has been
introduced to save water losses/ its
judicious
use.
- 200 Laser land leveling
equipments have been procured
- 48 sold to farmers on 50%
subsidized rate of Rs.245,000 each
- Combine harvesters have been
provided to farmers at Rs. 400 per
hour to
facilitate harvesting and reduce post harvest
losses in Paddy crop.
- To minimize the use of
Pesticides, Integrated Pest Management
Programme
has been launched with FAO Assistance.
- Training to staff and farmers
has been provided through refresher
courses at
Agriculture Training Institute Sakrand. 125
farmers schools established throughout Sindh to
impart training to farmers.
- To streamline pesticide and
fertilizer testing and to curb adulteration,
two
more pesticide laboratories have been
established at Larkana and Mirpurkhas.
