FUNCTIONS OF MARKET COMMITTEES

Issue license to Dealers, Commission Agents, Brokers, Weigh-men, Surveyors, Warehouse-men, etc. for carrying out their trade in market and to renew, suspend or cancel the license.

Levy Fee on Agricultural produce bought or sold in the notified market area on prescribed rates.

To fix and implement trade allowance in markets, so that growers are not fleeced at the hands of Middle men.
 

To arrange open auction of the Agricultural Produce.

To supervise current weightment and timely payment.

Construct Agriculture Markets and to provide amenities in the existing local markets as for as funds permits.

Any other duty assisted by Government from time to time
 

SETUP OF MARKET COMMITTEES
Government under Section 7, 8 & 10 of Agricultural Produce Market Act 1939 establishes market committees through notification.
A Market Committees of Class-A consist 18 members where Class B,C & D consist 10 members as under:
